As a law enforcement arm of the Home Office, Border Force is responsible for securing the UK border 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Around 10,000 people work for Border Force, with the majority working in frontline roles in airports and seaports across the UK and overseas.
Border Force lead on facilitating the legitimate movement of people and goods entering the United Kingdom and we secure the United Kingdom’s border by conducting immigration and customs controls at some of the largest air and seaports in the world. We use intelligence led checks to prevent those that would cause harm from entering the UK, whilst ensuring any illegally imported, prohibited and restricted goods do not make their way onto our streets.
We also support the priorities of the Home Office on high profile issues such as counter terrorism, organised crime, tackling modern slavery and human trafficking.
This is some of the most important and challenging work in Government, and its impact can be felt in communities across the UK.
